When a wireless system may suit the property
A finished interior, limited access to cable routes or a planned change in room use may prompt a wireless alarm enquiry. Explain the practical problem you are trying to solve. The intention should be a reliable installation that fits the building, rather than choosing wireless equipment simply because it appears easier to install.
The layout and construction of the premises matter. Distances between devices and the control equipment, and conditions along those paths, need to be considered. A proposed wireless system should be assessed for the actual building. The description of a product does not establish that every possible device position will be suitable.
Wireless does not mean there are no installation requirements
Devices need suitable positions and secure mounting. The control equipment and any associated communications equipment also need their specified power and connection arrangements. Ask which parts of the proposal are wireless and which still require cabling or a local connection, particularly where you want to minimise visible work.
Battery-powered components need attention in line with the selected equipment’s instructions. Discuss how the system indicates a low battery or other fault and who will deal with it. Understanding these arrangements is part of choosing the system, not an issue to leave until a warning appears after installation.
Wired, wireless or a hybrid arrangement
An existing property may already have usable cabling, while a new area may be difficult to reach with additional cable. A hybrid arrangement can be discussed where the selected system supports both approaches. The equipment, compatibility and condition of anything retained need to be assessed before a plan is agreed.

List the entrances and spaces you want to protect, along with the times they are occupied. For a home, include pets and whether anyone remains inside while part of the property is set. Notifications and monitoring are separate choices
Wireless communication between alarm devices is different from sending an alert outside the property. A wireless alarm does not automatically include phone notifications, remote control or professional monitoring. Any required functions need to be supported by the chosen equipment and included in the agreed proposal.
